Greetings from David

Dear Valued Customer,

Even when lightning strikes twice, it's still a thrill and a jolt. That's the way we felt this month when Global Logistics and Supply Chain Strategies magazine named D.W. Morgan Company to its prestigious “100 Great Supply Chain Partners” list for the second consecutive year.

It's always a great honor to receive recognition — particularly when, as with the “100 Great Supply Chain Partners” list, the only way to make the cut is to be nominated by a client.

What really excites us about the GLSCS “100 Great Partners” list, though, is recognition of that key word “partner.” Before Morgan's services expanded to include diversity procurement, service logistics, real-time visibility tools and consulting, we used to call ourselves “The Partner Shipping People.” To this day, being a true, valued partner to clients remains our highest aspiration.

Anyone can be a service provider. But, partner? That takes a lot more work. You have to take the time to really know your customers' business, not just their shipping departments. Talk to management. Walk the docks, whether they're in San Jose or Shenzhen. Understand the big-picture strategies and be willing to invest in realizing that vision.

We thrive on those challenges, and the results show in our client roster. In fact, our top three accounts average a client retention time of more than 10 years. That's about three lifetimes in global supply-chain years!

On behalf of everyone at Morgan, I would like to thank our clients for nominating us for this great honor. We deeply appreciate the opportunity to work with you and to develop great partnerships.

As for the rest of you? Give us a call and tell us about your own supply chain challenges. We promise to become great partners for you, too.
